The last day – Day 28…

February 28, 2009 · Leave a Comment

…almost sad to be at the end of this great challenge. I am counting on Lain to be back next year – and if she decide to do this one more time later this year I am in. So here comes the last load page for now…

For a short period of time they can be the best of friends. I have no idea why they would want to spend time together under the same chair, but hey – what do I know about having fun…

One more day to go…

February 27, 2009 · 1 Comment

…and I am a little sad that LOAD will be over tomorrow. This has been an awesome month, and where did the time go? Since I have been working a LOT with organizing photos through out the whole month it has been so fun to do the load challenge this time around. Last January when Lain Ehmann hosted this challenge at Big Picture Scrapbooking I had only made three layouts prior to the challenge. I have been scrapbooking ever since – and almost every day. This is such a rewarding hobby. Last year there were about 3000 entering the challenge and it was pretty overwhelming. This year we are 110 and it has been such a good group of nice girls. I wish I could give every one of them a personal thank you.

Now – here is the second last Load page. Last Sunday we were all having coffee in the living-room – suddenly there is silence.  With kids in the house – silence is a dangerous thing. And out in the kitchen we found this little guy – all dreamy eyed – in the kitchen sink. Just like his dad at the same age.

Two minutes before….

February 26, 2009 · 1 Comment

…day 26 turned into day 27 I finished my 30 minutes layout. Lain`s email prompt suited me well today. I had to spend 15 hours at work and had very little time left for scrapbooking.
I did spend my lunch break reading Stacy Julians handout for week three in the LOM class and I loved todays lesson. Going trough all my layouts and label them according to Stacy`s system and keep a tally on the who, where, what, why and when. This is will be interesting. I will take a break from stuffing the binders and enjoy myself with this.

Load day 24…

February 24, 2009 · Leave a Comment

…just a quick one. I am almost done gathering all my digital images. Still have to work through the files to weed out some duplicates and the ones I don`t want to keep. At the same time I need to make the highlights albums. I have five years of photos in nine albums so I just have to pick the ones I really need. Since I always have printed almost every photo taken I just need to replace the ones I have used and can see myself wanting to use again. I have enough prints in storage binders to move on, so I will spend some time picking what to print.

Slowly going crazy…

February 23, 2009 · Leave a Comment

The most essential part of Stacy Julian`s Library of Memories is the storage binders. She use Pioner storage binders that showcase three 4×6 photos on each page. This is a 3-ring binder that make it easy to shift pages in and out and to move them around. Her advice is that we get 15 binders. I would love to have these binders. I can clearly see the advantaged of having them. They can`t be found in Norway and having them shipped from USA will be expensive. 98 dollars for two. So for the time being I just use cheap 3-up binders, and some 2-up I have.

For now I just concentrate on the last five years. I don`t think there will be time for more. I just need to have five years into the binders so I can learn how Stacy works this system. For me the challenge has been to gather all the digital images stored all over the place. I have finished sorting, filing  and deleting everything we have stored on the external hard drive. I have brought home everything we have stored with the on-line photo services. It is a good thing to have the digital images stored with an  on-line photo service, but my on-line albums were a mess.  I might find my way, but no one else would. After sorting through everything I will get a new account and upload the highlight folders.

Pairing down and creating highlight folders will be a challenge. But first I have to work my way through ALL the CD`s and DVD`s hiding all around the house. I know – I am a mess…But in a day or two I will have my desk back in order so I can go back to organising my room again. ( I think…)

Planning today’s page I realized that there is two kids in this family. I keep forgetting that. But this little guy demands his place in the family. I better remember that before the new baby arrives. The baby in the middle might be overlooked…

Day 20…, originally uploaded by elinjanne.

I was up singing with the birds 19 hours ago. Working the evening shift Friday gave me time to organise my photo files. It is so much better to do this in daylight. Still not done with 2007. Man – did we take a lot of pictures in 2007. Even if I hit delete all the way I have a lot of choosing to do before I have my highlight folders ready for print.
I don`t worry so much about to getting ready for the next lesson. I do have a lot of prints from 2007 and 2008 ready in binders so I will be able to work along when we progress in class.
Right now I almost feel good about not having so many prints from the earlier years, and I will make sure that from now on we will have control over the flow…

Day 19

Day 19, originally uploaded by elinjanne.

Setting up the Library of Memories sure is a trigger for remembering and a need to get the stories told. I have worked my way through June 2007 and I knew right away that I wanted to create my page about these “golden moments”.
This is my sister in law and she loves to spend time outdoors, in the mountains or at sea. This is from Hallingdal in June 2007. The pics make even me (the not so much outdoor kind of person) want to go there.

A note: According to Stacy and the LOM system I should have had photos of this lady as a child fishing in the same lake. Maybe with her mum and dad at the same cabin, some 40 years ago. Or from the early years of romance. Unfortunately, I don`t have those photos….(yeat).

Load day 18…

February 18, 2009 · Leave a Comment

…Happy birthday to Lain Ehmann – the boss lady for the load challenge is turning 40 today. I am just saying – turning 40 is great. ( Hope I feel the same about 50). I almost didn`t make it today. Got so obsessed with  gathering the photo-files from May 2007 that I almost forgot.

I found this cute photo of Elin Marie turning 2. She got so involved with ”our Tina” visiting that she overlooked the guests and the party. That girl loves animals.

Here she is a few days earlier – in kindergarten. Gathering the photos takes time and it can be boring, but it is fun to see this moments again.
