Our May Baby…

One more baby to scrapbook for. I am so lucky.

Not so much scrapbooking these days. In the moment I wrote that – I could hear Stacy Julian`s voice. She says that everything you do with the photo is a part of scrapbooking. And she is so right about that. To enjoy the photos popping up on your screen, fresh from the camera, is the best part of this hobby. I can loose myself in those happy  eyes looking back at me.

Now, crazy me had to enter Lain Ehmann`s challenge LayOut A Day -May 09. May is a crazy month for me at work, but this challenge is so much fun that I had to join. I have made a back up plan though.  I have not done anything with the photos from Christmas and New Year and I have room left in my Christmas journal – 6×12 album. That is a good format to work with for the crazy days of May.

LOAD May 09

Come to think of it – I also joined Cathy Zielske`s class at BPS – beginning May 14. Maybe being a little crazy is okay.

I`m back blogging – I think…

The good thing about taking a break is that you suddenly find time to do other things. I needed time to concentrate on the next step in building The Library of Memories system. Until now I have worked with the last four years. That does not make my category drawers very exciting.  I have worked on emptying old magnetic albums and scanning the photos in case I need to reprint. This takes time, mostly because I enjoy looking at the old photos. Still, the worst part is left to do. The negatives…Since I’m a slow learner I am not looking forward to get that scanner going.

And with all the time I had on my hands I finally decided to do Jessica Sprague’s photo editing lessons. She makes it look so easy and I have no problem following her teaching, but I find it hard to stop myself from hitting auto.

Photo album scrapbooking…

Last week`s assignment in the LOM class at BPS was to make a PAS-album. I have made several of this since Stacy Julian`s Have More FUN class last summer. They turn out cute, they are fun to make and making them don`t take much time. Just one problem – the albums are hard to find in Norway.

32x

This is a 1-up album with 100 pages. When I was filling my binders I was looking at 200 pictures from last summers vacation at Viva Bahia – Majorca. For years we didn`t  bring any camera, but looking through my category drawers I found several photos given to me through the years. We have been staying at the same hotel almost every year between 1993 – 2008.

33x

I did not put the pictures from last summer into my binder. Mostly because there were few pictures of people – just the surroundings. The  few I had of us, I put into my category drawers. The rest I placed in a box labeled – ideas for mini albums.

34x

100  pages.60 photos. 40 journal cards. I did not make this chronological. I wrote what came to me and found a picture to go with the story. Now I am ready for tomorrows assignment.

My new best friend…

10 minutes and I am hurting so much...

…finding motivation for getting back in shape is hard to find. Doing Lisa Cohen’s class called Wellness Journey at BPS is my third try this year. I’m not so sure if that was a good choice…  I did not foresee the language problem. I do not have the vocabulary to understand the information she give us. I can move around that problem, it’s not like I don’t have exercise programs in Norwegian. I doubt there is any difference. And I like the daily check in at the board.

I rather would have skipped my daily torture today, but I wanted to visit the message board and say; yes I did my training.

Christmas dinner…

April 11, 2009 · Leave a Comment

…Easter is a good time for eating the leftovers from the Christmas dinner.

And yes, it tastes just how it looks. This is the only tradition my sister in law brought with her when she joined our family some 30 years ago.  It is made of dried meat and it is boiled in milk for 24 hours. Let`s just say it has grown on me.

Library of Memories…

…is working. It was so easy to find photos taken April 9th – going four years back. And this little test, resulted in this quick layout:

When I got a photo of Elin visiting at her great grandfathers old school today. I knew  where to find an older photo from around the school and I had no problem to locate an old photo of my dad.

Piece of cake. I can`t say the same thing about using the step machine. That was ….#¤!/#…all I could do was five minutes. This is gonna be a long walk.

The bliss of Easter…

April 9, 2009 · Leave a Comment

…I slept 6 hours straight. I havn`t done that in the longest time and it feels good. Besides regrets about eating all my Easter sweets last night I have worked on today’s lesson from Jessica Sprague. Day one we get a journal handout – day two we get do put that writing  into a digital layout given to us from various partners of Jessica Sprague.com. I do regret that I haven`t done any of Jessica`s digital classes. She is a great teacher – even I can follow her teaching. What happens now is that I spend all my time working on the digital challenge and forget about the journal. Now – here is the good part about Jessica`s classes – you get access to her teaching forever. It is so easy to go back if you are stuck or need inspiration.

I did make my layout – and I did work through the journaling challenge, but I had no pictures to go with the story so I made this instead.

Before I decide what to do with rest of my day, I will bring my book and soak up in the bath tub. That – I havn`t done in years.

At last – Easter…

April 8, 2009 · Leave a Comment

…and I`m going to bed without a wake-up call. In the morning I will enjoy my morning coffee with all the time in the world to dig into the new handouts in my BPS classes. Looking forward for the new class; Wellness Journey, starting tomorrow. It`s time to get this out of shape body up and moving, and I need all the motivation I can get. I am not motivated for this class at all but the alternative is not an option.

One more goal for the Easter Holiday – I want to read a book.

Happy Easter.

I signed up…

…for Jessica Sprague`s -  Type + Write starting today. I did not plan this, but with Easter coming up I have the time to do this. I loved her “stories in hand” class. She delivers good stuff.  And I want to take a peek into the world of digital scrapbooking. The first handout looks good and I love the digital elements we received today. (And I already finished today’s assignment).

I`m already  doing  Karen Grunberg`s class – Telling Stories Deeply – at BPS.  A great class, witch I hope she will teach again. Karen is a wonderful and engaged teacher. Her handouts are awesome. The class runs over 4 weeks and she left me behind in week 2. This is one of those classes that could run for months. Not her fault though that I`m left behind. I had to admit that translating this knowledge into Norwegian would take some more time. All the handouts are saved and I will work on this on my own. I am okay with that because her handouts are great.

On to a LOM update…

This week we are making Photo Album Scrapbooks. We learned that in Stacy Julian`s Have More Fun class last summer. I had never heard about PAS at the  time and I loved this concept. If you have lot of pictures from one event, or several pictures of the same situation over a span of time – this is a great way of honoring those memories. It is quick, fun and the choices are endless. I still have problems finding these albums in Norway. It is kind of boring to use the same album over and over again and they are difficult to alter. But – that is okay because I enjoy this so much.
